A Financial Advisory Firm Built for You
Transparent fees. Comprehensive planning. Evidence-based investing.
What Makes White Coat Planning Different?
Our focus is on helping you make better decisions across every area of your financial life. We create a comprehensive, evolving financial plan that integrates income, spending, debt, insurance, investments, and taxes because it's impossible to give good advice or manage investments without understanding your goals and personal situation.
The financial industry is built around managing money...
Most advisory firms use an Assets Under Management (AUM) model, where they charge a percentage of your portfolio — typically 1% per year. This model allows advisors to get rich off their clients’ success.
The AUM Trap:
Invest $1 million with a 1% AUM advisor and you'll pay $10,000 per year. As your portfolio grows to $5 million, you'll pay $50,000 per year — even though the work required doesn't increase by 5x.
We don't think that's fair
That’s why we offer flat-fee financial planning with ongoing monthly support. You pay for expertise and advice, not the size of your portfolio. Higher assets shouldn’t mean a higher price tag.
Increased Wealth with Our Flat fees vs. 1% AUM

The Compound Effect: A client with a household income of $400,000, maintaining a 20% savings rate, and starting with a $1 million portfolio would build over $1.5 million of additional wealth after 25 years and almost $2.5 million of additional wealth after 30 years under our flat fee model compared to a traditional advisor charging a 1% AUM fee.
*Assumes investment returns of 6% after inflation with 2% inflation impacting both household income and expenses. Values are in today's dollars.
Why Choose White Coat Planning?
Most financial advisory firms are built around increasing the assets they manage, not delivering great financial advice.
White Coat Planning Is Different
We believe in fair, transparent fees that reflect the value of advice, not the dollars in your portfolio.
White Coat Planning is rooted in the principles of The White Coat Investor, shaped by decades of working with hundreds of thousands of high-income professionals.
We help you understand and take control of your financial life, reinforcing the habits and discipline that lead to long-term success.
The real impact of good financial planning shows up outside your portfolio. It's time to build a life that reflects your hard work — one with abundance, stability, and choice. Because after everything you've sacrificed, you've earned it.
From the Founders
Built on principles of integrity, transparency, and putting clients first.

Dr. Jim Dahle
Emergency Physician and founder of The White Coat Investor
“Early in my career, I had multiple run-ins with financial professionals who put their own incentives ahead of my best interests. Those experiences pushed me to become financially literate, and in 2011 led me to start The White Coat Investor to help high-income professionals build wealth without being taken advantage of.
For too long, the financial services industry has been in the business of transferring money from the pockets of its clients into its own accounts, often by gathering assets in order to charge commissions and expensive management fees.
Our goal with White Coat Planning is simple: Fix the financial advice industry by building an advisory firm the way it should be built. That means low, transparent fees, comprehensive financial planning, and evidence-based investing practices.
You deserve advice that puts you first.
At White Coat Planning, you will get good advice at a fair price.”
“My life has been shaped by the words of Luke 12:48: 'To whom much is given, much is required.' That principle has guided my approach to leadership, business, and service.
Growing up, my family experienced significant instability. I lived in more than 30 homes as a child, which gave me an early and personal understanding of how deeply financial decisions impact families, security, and long-term opportunity. Those experiences instilled a conviction that financial systems should serve people, not exploit them.
Early on in my real estate career, I saw how thoughtful guidance, ethical decision-making, and disciplined execution could change lives in meaningful ways.
White Coat Planning was built on that same foundation. We believe financial advice should be aligned with the client’s best interests, charge low and transparent fees, and be focused on long-term outcomes.
At its core, this firm exists to do what financial advice should have done all along. Serve clients well. Put people first. And help families build secure, meaningful lives.”
